About Artist
Through tactical acts of technical and conceptual détournement, much of Nida Sinnokrot’s work aims to subvert various technologies of control that give rise to shifting social, political, and geographic instabilities. Sinnokrot received a BA from the University of Texas at Austin and an MFA from Bard College. In 2001, he participated in the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program. Sinnokrot is a Rockefeller Foundation Media Arts Fellow (2002), a Fellow of Akademie Schloss Solitude (2012–15), and he has received support from the Merz Akademie, the Paul Robeson Fund, and the A.M. Qattan Foundation, among others.
His works has been featured in exhibitions including the Sharjah Biennial 13 (UAE, 2017); Taipei Biennial (Taiwan, 2016); Art in the Age of Asymmetrical Warfare, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art (Rotterdam, Netherlands, 2015); the travelling exhibition Tea with Nefertiti, Mathaf; Arab Museum of Modern Art (Doha, Qatar); Institut du monde arabe (Paris, France); Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (Spain); Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst (Munich, Germany, 2012–14); Biennale Cuvée, World Selection of Contemporary Art (Linz, Austria, 2010); Sharjah Biennial 9 (2009); Never-Part: Histories of Palestine, Centre for Fine Arts (Brussels, Belgium, 2008–9); and the first museum exhibition in the United States devoted to the contemporary art of Palestine, Made in Palestine, which was on display from 2003–6 at Station Museum (Houston, TX), SomArts Cultural Center (San Francisco, CA), T. W. Wood Gallery and Arts Center, (Montpellier, VT), and The Bridge (New York). Sinnokrot’s first feature film, Palestine Blues (2006), a documentary on Palestinian farmers’ struggles in a disappearing landscape, screened in over thirty festivals worldwide and won seven awards for best documentary.
Sinnokrot’s recent solo shows include Exquisite Rotation at KIOSK (Ghent, Belgium, 2018), which brought together cinematic installations and sculptural works spanning twenty years, and Expand Extract Repent Repeat at Carlier | Gebauer (Berlin, Germany, 2018–19), which presents recent sculpture, photographs, and installation works that reference flows of global capital, the writing and rewriting of history, cycles of debt, and architectures of occupation and expansion. Sinnokrot’s work is in various public collections including the Sharjah Art Foundation; the Khalid Shoman Foundation (Amman, Jordan); and the Palestinian Museum (Birzeit).
Sinnokrot is the cofounder of Sakiya, an international residency program with an emphasis on fostering and developing sustainable practices across disciplines. He is also a faculty member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Program in Art, Culture and Technology (Cambridge, MA, US).

The following conditions of sale describe the relationship between the Institute for Palestine Studies-USA and the buyers, prospective buyers, and bidders for the Keyword: Palestine II Art Exhibition and Auction which will begin on March 2nd, 2020, and end on December 31st, 2020. By using this website to buy, bid, or inquire about any artwork, you agree to be bound by these conditions.
When you place a bid on any artwork, you are accepting personal liability for the purchase price, any applicable taxes, any and all shipping and packing costs, and all other applicable charges. Any artwork bought by residents of the District of Columbia will be subjected to a 6% sales tax on the market value of the artwork. All U.S. resident buyers can claim tax deductions on amounts that exceed the market value of the artwork. Market value of artwork is their starting value.
Bid winners can pick up the artwork they bought from the Institute for Palestine Studies-USA or have the Institute arrange for shipment, however, reiterating, that the buyer is responsible for all packing and shipment costs.
There will be ten (10) bidding cycles. Each cycle will close on the last day of the month at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (USA) at which time the highest bidder for the art will be notified of their winning bid.
