About Artist
Taysir Batniji was born in Gaza in 1966. He lives and works between Paris and Palestine.
Batniji studied fine art at Al-Najah University in Nablus and at the School of Arts in Bourges, France. In recent years, he has held solo exhibitions at Les rencontres internationales de la photographie (Arles, France, 2018); Aperture Foundation (New York, US, 2018); the André Malraux Contemporary Art Space (Colman, France, 2016); Espace culturel Robert de Lamanon (Salon-de-Provence, France, 2016); Cultural Center, Salon-de-Provence (France, 2013); Musee d’art et d’histoire (Geneva, Switzerland, 2007); and Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art (Rotterdam, Netherlands, 2004).
His works were shown in the following group exhibitions: Boghossian Foundation (Brussels, Belgium, 2018); Mulhouse Art Center (France, 2017); Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart (Germany, 2017); Valencia Institute of Modern Art (Spain, 2016); and the Centre Pompidou (Paris, 2014). He participated in the Venice Biennales in 2011, 2009, and 2003. His works are part of prominent collections such as the Centre Pompidou; the Victoria and Albert Museum (London, UK); and Kunsthalle Wien (Vienna, Austria), among others.
His artwork can also be found in major art collections including Foundation Louis Vuitton (Paris); Fondazione Goetz (Munich, Germany); Neuflize Foundation (Paris); Villa Bernasconi: Centre d’arte (Lancy, Switzerland); the National Fund of Contemporary Art (Paris); Immigration Museum (Paris); the Ursula Blikle Video Archive, Kunsthalle Wien, University of Applied Arts; the Ursula Blikle Foundation (Kraichtal, Germany); Fresnoy Media Library, Tourcoing Art Center (France); and the Multimedia Library of Videochroniques (Marseille).
Conditions
The following conditions of sale describe the relationship between the Institute for Palestine Studies-USA and the buyers, prospective buyers, and bidders for the Keyword: Palestine II Art Exhibition and Auction which will begin on March 2nd, 2020, and end on December 31st, 2020. By using this website to buy, bid, or inquire about any artwork, you agree to be bound by these conditions.
When you place a bid on any artwork, you are accepting personal liability for the purchase price, any applicable taxes, any and all shipping and packing costs, and all other applicable charges. Any artwork bought by residents of the District of Columbia will be subjected to a 6% sales tax on the market value of the artwork. All U.S. resident buyers can claim tax deductions on amounts that exceed the market value of the artwork. Market value of artwork is their starting value.
Bid winners can pick up the artwork they bought from the Institute for Palestine Studies-USA or have the Institute arrange for shipment, however, reiterating, that the buyer is responsible for all packing and shipment costs.
There will be ten (10) bidding cycles. Each cycle will close on the last day of the month at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (USA) at which time the highest bidder for the art will be notified of their winning bid.
